I have kept up with this blog for a whole week! I am not sure what next week will look like since we will be "on the road" visiting family in Indiana but I should be able to post once or twice I hope!
We are winding down the CRAZY week. Nic had fun at his classes, walked away with a t-shirt, some new acquaintances, and some insight to problem solving, read carefully and check your work for careless mistakes. Will survived day camp without me yesterday, I was so proud of him! He went back with Ben's dad this AM and we will join him for lunch and fun this afternoon. Daddy will not go because he has to put another coat of paint on the bathroom and mow the grass. We work him hard around here!
I had a fun day in the big city yesterday. I hung out there all day while Nic was in class. I shopped, I browsed and I ate. It was strange to be alone but in a good way. I found some great bargains at JoAnn's and bought some useful items at Target, I hit the standard $100 mark pretty easily. I also got myself some pants at the mall and paint for the bathroom. I picked the color with no consultation from anyone I love. It might be a bit bright but I like it and will make it work for sure!
OK, we are out of here in less than 24 hours so I need to get a move on with packing and cleaning, I hope it all goes smoothly. We HAVE to leave at 9:00 tomorrow so that we can get to Indiana in time for dinner! No pressure, my mom just invited a bunch of people over for a cook out, I am actually really excited to see everyone since we haven't been home in 6 months. It is time!

We all survived!
What joy is found in some good owl pellets? We had fun at day camp today. Will threw on some over sized gloves and ripped into the pellet. He had a skull, some ribs and some other stuff in there. Cool! We also did archery, BB guns, critter crafts and we made a bat house. (That was a noisy project!) Will wanted to head home more than once but he toughed it out, not that I gave him a choice. I am not going with him tomorrow and I am just hoping that goes smoothly.
Sara came to get Nic early, shows how seriously she took the chauffeur gig! Nic called around 10 AM and had spilled paint all over himself. He asked if I could bring him a new shirt, easy answer, "No." Sorry bud, not happening today. Hang in there, he did! He got home close to 5, we beat him by a few minutes and now I can rest. Well not exactly...
Fred is coming home tonight instead of tomorrow so I need to put my house in order, at least try to straighten some. I think I will hose down the boys in a quick shower and get busy.
Yeah! We did it!

Bring it!
They day from H*** is tomorrow and I am ready. Sara came to get directions for taking Nic tomorrow and she seems prepped. I of course forgot to pay her but Nic can do that for me tomorrow. I have started to get stuff ready for day camp and am feeling on top of that too. I feel like I should wear jeans to avoid ticks and poison ivy but jeans in June. Ugh! What is a girl to do? I will survive.
Will seems quite excited about camp. I hope it is all that and a bag of chips for him. I hope he can make some connections so the return on Friday without me is easy enough.
I finished about 90% of the bathroom priming today. I am sore but am feeling REALLY good about getting the job pretty far along. It was tedious and the second coat will go easily for whoever does it. Fred probably, he is one to take over where I left off. I appreciate that about him:)
I though I might be more prophetic today but I am just not feeling it. I had moments of joy today as I primed, as I drove along and sang out loud with Mylie Cyrus, as I ate my first Papa John's pizza in about 2 years. I thought it had only been since we moved but then I remembered that the Papa John's in Canton closed before we moved and that I had lost the joy quite awhile ago. I love Papa John's! It was a worthwhile treat for a job well done. Yeah me!
I hope to have some exciting stuff to add tomorrow about day camp! I must remember my hat! I am sure it is going to be a hot one. Until then...

Another Day... It's history now!
First off, a shout out and Happy B-Day to my Aunt Kate. No one knows about this blog yet but someday she'll read this and smile:) I thought about you today and smiled. Didn't get the card in the mail but I will...
We survived day two of the crazy week. Nic got to class and back without issue. It sure is nice for him to have that cell phone. He calls a few times around lunch and that makes me smile. We got our homework correct from yesterday and I feel confident about the work he did tonight. Only one problem, which I looked at but he figured out. YEAH NIC!
Will and I ran home after another Target stop. Only spent $2.42 today! We went to the library for a program which he gave up on in the middle of it. We lingered till the end but oh well. It was the last activity that he could participate in for the summer reading program. The program left a bit to be desired but oh well. We spent the afternoon at home. Will lounged and I started my priming task. I hate painting. What was I thinking? Now that I have it started I must at least finish the priming. There are just sooo many corners and trim pieces in that tiny room. There is not much wall to cover but it is VERY broken up.
After we got Nic we headed back for the t-ball picnic, team photo and scrimage game. Last night of the season. The food was tastey, the company charming and the Braves were hot tonight. The whole team did so well. It was really fun to watch. When we got to within 1 mile of home we realized that we had forgotten Will's mitt. Back to the park after we dropped Nic off and all is well.
I am whipped again today but am proud of what was accomplished. I could have been sitting on my butt all day but instead I did stuff. This is great progress for this couch potato. I have plenty more to do in my life but it will get done. More priming tomorrow, Fred is coming home early, so I need to knock it out. I am hoping I can do a coat in the morning and another in the afternoon before we need to go get Nic. That should be reasonable, it is only a bathroom.
Perhaps my next post will be full of more in depth thoughts on the state of the world today. I do follow the news a bit but mostly it makes me sad. My life makes me smile!

12 hours later and $38 at Target...
Well it is 12 hours later and I am tired but accomplished. Nic got to ISU and back with little issue. He does have homework tonight for the math class and as I sure you recall the engineer daddy is out of town. Let's hope I can handle this or maybe I'll need to call Denise.
Will and I didn't have too tough of a time keeping busy this AM. We went to Hobby Lobby and each got a treat, well, Will got one set of markers and I got three things for scrappin. Then we went to Hastings and bought Nic a Gryfindor shirt and Will bought a Magic Treehouse book. Next we went to the park, he ran and made new friends, I read "O." Finally we went to Panera before the lunch rush and ate and read in the cool restaurant. Our quick trip to Target was effient and by then we had heard from Nic and were free to head home until after his second class. Before we left the big city we stopped at Sherwin Williams and Sam's.
When we got home I started taping off the bathroom and knocked out quite a bit of it before we needed to head back to get Nic. Whew, no wonder I am beat. Throw into that day the fact that I found out that I my dental insurance had mysteriously been cancelled back in March so my visit last week wasn't covered. Oops, better work on that! OK enough. I'll write again when there is something worth writing. Maybe in 10 mins. Just kidding!

EARLY Monday morning...
What am I doing awake at 5:15 AM? Well, I can only tell you that I am not sure why and I am not happy about it. I could guess that since Fred had to get up and going this morning to head to the airport that he was too noisy and I couldn't get back to sleep. Actually, he was nice and quiet with the exception of his alarm. I should have put myself right back to sleep but no, I have too much on my mind right now. As I mentioned Fred is on his way out of town today. He'll be back VERY late on Friday. I am on my own. Generally speaking I do "on my own" pretty well but this week is going to be a bit of a challenge.
Nic is taking a couple of summer classes at ISU this week. One is about Harry Potter and the other is a Math Quest course. He is excited about them and I am excited for him. He will be on campus all day every day this week. That means lots of running for me. I can handle it, I did sign him up for the class. Throw into the mix that Will has Cub Scout Day camp on R, F and S the opposite direction from ISU. I have a plan and I have hired someone to take Nic to ISU on the day that I have volunteered to go to camp but I have no back-up plan and that stinks. I am anxious and worried and am quite literally losing sleep over the matter. Jeez I wish I lived closer to family. This is one of those times that Granny or Aunt Jen should step in and help. I know they would, but can not from 8 hours away. The best I can do is hope for the best.
Well, I could recap our pretty decent weekend then try to sleep an hour before my alarm goes off. The good news is that I cropped on Friday night! I got 9 pages done in the Kirste B-Day album and I am pretty pleased with how they look. I have not journalled but I will, eventually. Saturday was spent on laundry and miscellaneous. Nic and I went to church at 5:00 then he had a friend spend the night. We got Bailey's Pizza, YUM! and they stayed up too late. There was running and laughing and some tears but we all survived. Sunday was family day and we headed out to run some errands that included lunch at Hickory Park! YUM YUM! We then went bowling then to Target and Lowe's. Amazingly, I walked out of Target only $32.00 poorer. That was of course because Fred was with me. I am sure I'll spend a little more there this week.
Will and I are going to be running more errands today while Nic is in class. I am hoping to stay in town until lunch then come home for a bit them go back and get him. I stupidly opened my mouth and volunteered to prime the bathroom this week, among other things, and should start taping off the three doorways and the three mirrors and the shower. What was I thinking? OK, time to have a glass of milk them hope for another hour of rest. More to come I'm sure...

The first day...
Not sure why I feel compelled to start a blog but I read plenty so why not have my own in the mix? Not that my life is exciting or worthy of daily documentation but who knows when something noteworthy might come along right?
It is a mellow Saturday afternoon in Iowa. I think that today might be our 1 year anniversary of moving here. I know it was sometime around this date last year. In our year we have settled some but have a ways to go before we are home, really home. There are patch spots on the wall of this house that are calling for paint, like a whole new color of paint, and there are lots of empty spots on the wall that need stuff hung but alas, the stuff we have to hang just doesn't fir the space. Little by little we are working on it. Wall hangings are just not my priority, just my little nagging thoughts in the back of my head each time I walk by...
Random thoughts that I want to share with whomever might read this... my new favorite convenience items. The one for this week, dun dun dun da, precooked bacon! I had a very yummy Peanut Butter and Bacon sandwich for lunch, no BLT for me, I hate tomatoes! and it was so easy to whip out this bacon, nuke it for 45 seconds and not have a huge mess of grease! Love it!
OK, back to reality, I am off to work on laundry. Fred got home yesterday at 2 and will leave WAY to early Monday morning for another week on the road. Must make certain that the necessities are washed soon so he can repack. My glamorous life is just too much sometimes:)
